You’ll also find the dimensions are ideal for a day of intense trekking – perfect for storing your compact gear.
Rucksack size: 16cm x 30 cm x 46cm.
A lightweight, comfortable pack, the Yellowstone Rucksack Edinburgh is perfect for anything from an overnight mini-holiday to a weeklong summer trek. Join in on the Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions and you’ll see that this rucksack is one of our favourite backpacks for more than just its name. Lighter than other packs of similar size, the Yellowstone Edinburgh 65L is sewn from durable 600D fabric. This designation, denier, is the weight of the fabric per 9,000 metres - the heavier the fabric, the higher the denier. To put it in perspective, ladies’ tights are often in the 40-60denier range, so a 600denier fabric is very heavyweight. This gives the rucksack abrasion resistance and durability for any type of environment. And all of this is in a sack that weighs only 1.6kg so you can add a bit of extra equipment without being over-weighted. For optimal storage space, it features two main compartments so that you can easily separate clothing from gear to make unpacking and re-packing each day quick and simple. Additionally, there is a zip pocket on the hood to place gear that you’ll want to access throughout that day, such as your maps or phone. Two side pockets hold snacks and the front panel pocket is ideal for an easily reached rain jacket. Because hiking in an ill-fitting pack is no fun, the Edinburgh 65L features a padded back panel, shoulder, and waist strap. These are all adjustable so that the fit is easily optimized to your individual specifications. Combined with the two interior compartments, you’re able to situate the weight of your gear exactly where you need it to be comfortable. An adjustable sternum strap holds the shoulder straps in front so they don’t slip. We all hope for sunshine when we’re playing outdoors, but Mother Nature can be fickle. To protect your gear when the mist and rain sets in the Edinburgh rucksack has an attached rain cover. Just pull it over your sack and keep trekking with the security of knowing your gear will be dry when you arrive at camp.
If you like to hike with a few extras, such as hiking poles or even a camera tripod, attach them on the exterior of the rucksack using the adjustable straps. You can even use the bottom straps to secure your sleeping sack or pad if you find your sack filled with a few too many snack and goodies, if there is such a thing as too many sweets!
Of course this rucksack with its ample space is also ideal for the gap year student and festival goer.
