Quote from The Merchant's Website:

"DISTRICT is a freestyle board for learning and progressing. For beginners who wish to progress while riding.

Twin Tip = symmetrical board with central bindings for ease of use in both directions. For online orders, you will randomly receive a black or white base."

  • Versatility: 25% piste, 25% off-piste, 50% park.
  • Ease of handling: Soft torsional stiffness, freedom for feet: very playful for jumps and modules.
  • Buoyancy: Great buoyancy on powder (virtual reverse camber).
  • Traction: Easy sliding (small standard camber and supple torsion).
  • Anatomic design: 151 cm: 1.69 to 1.76 m155 cm: 1.74 to 1.81 m161W cm: 1.78 to 1.86 m
  • Rigidity: Quite flexible nose and tail. Ideal for low speed jumps.
  • Forgiveness: Wide rocker and soft torsion to minimise edge errors.
  • Glide performance: Extruded PE base for smooth gliding quality.

Technical information

  • Front width 306 mm, centre 262 mm, back 306 mm (size 156W cm).
  • Radius 7.5 m.
  • Effective edge 1190 mm.
  • No. of inserts: 8 + 8 (3 possible positions per binding, 40 mm between each).
  • Recommended stance: 540 mm.

black base or white base?

  • For online orders, you will randomly receive either a black or white base.
  • The reason is simple: to minimise falls in production, and therefore waste, the black letters, cut out of the black base, are glued to the white base and vice versa.
  • We are sorry but therefore when it comes to the warehouse and despatch, we are unable to send a chosen option as Rossignol supplies them to us randomly.

What's the right size District for me?

  • For Freestyle use, you can take a short board: choose a 20 or 25 cm drop (for example, a person who is 1.74 m tall should choose a board between 154 and 149 cm in length).
  • A smaller board makes rotations and tricks easier. A bigger board will be more stable at high speed and when landing jumps.

Programme/terrain

Perfectly adapted to on-piste, the District also lets you ride in the park. The Amptek Auto-Turn camber from Rossignol, associated with a Twin Tip shape and a supple flex, makes for a very accessible board. An intermediate snowboarder can, however, have lots of fun on the piste edges, forests at the sides of the piste, or in parks. Like all freestyle boards, it remains very versatile on and off-piste.

Twin Tip snowboard

The shape of the snowboard is Twin Tip: the board's sidecuts are completely symmetrical between front and rear, providing perfect symmetry and centring of the board's features for riding in both directions in the same way. The Twin Tip shape also provides total balance when turning on the ground or in the air.

Camber Ampteck Auto-Turn Rossignol

The Camber Rossignol Amptek Auto-Turn has a reverse camber with a small standard camber between the two bindings to provide grip: 20% standard camber and 80% rocker. Suitable for beginner and intermediate snowboarders. Very good traction on hard snow with this kind of reverse camber (or double rocker) which provides buoyancy in powder snow and makes it easy to turn and has good manoeuvrability.

Forgiving, soft torsional flex (4/10)

Flex is the stiffness of the board between the front and rear. The flex of the District is approximately 4/10, making it supple and tolerant. This is a very even type of flex from the tip (nose) to the tail, which behaves extremely reliably and predictably in turns. However, at high speed or on very frozen snow, this board cannot hold a carved turn. It side-slips and automatically slows down.

Soft and forgiving torsion

The torsional stiffness - the stiffness of the board between the feet, is about 2/5. This makes the board easy to handle, turn and forgiving of edge mistakes. Soft torsion for free movement between the feet. The front foot can be slightly angled heel/toe, and the rear toe/heel. Forgiving of edge errors which is important for beginners. Soft torsion is also suitable for freestyle jib.

0 mm setback

The setback is when the board's compression points on the snow are not symmetrical in relation to the centre of the board, but set back towards the rear. The bindings are also set back towards the rear by the same distance. 0 mm: no setback, these are fully centred Twin Tip boards, not only for riding in both directions, but also for better balance during rotations in the air and on the slopes.

recommended bindings

  • For beginners, the Illusion 400 binding will work very well.
  • For more advanced freestyle use, the Endzone 500 binding will work better: it will provide more support and cushioning.

Glide quality: extruded base

  • The bases are made from polyethylene using 2 different technical processes:
  • - extruded base, with a certain density of polyethylene
  • - sintered base, with a greater density of polyethylene (fewer holes, more PE) An extruded base provides a normal glide and good resistance over time.

When should you wax your snowboard?

The snowboards are supplied already waxed. They then require regular maintenance: ideally waxing every 5 outings and at least once a year: - at the beginning of the season to start with a very good glide - at the end of the season so that the wax protects the base all summer long

What is the Wide version snowboard?

  • A "Wide" board is a board that is wider than usual to prevent larger feet from touching the snow when executing a hard turn and stop you from falling.
  • From size 10 upwards, it is best to choose a "Wide" board.
  • “Wide” is the width of the board at the centre. Decathlon’s guidance is as follows:
  • - up to 250 mm: normal board
  • - from 251 mm to 259 mm: Mid Wide
  • - from 260 mm: Wide
