This Is Why Camping Is Better Than Hotels

Last updated on August 13th, 2020 at 10:23 am

We know we’ve written about why camping is great in the past, of course – it’s what we know! However, we’d like to convince as many of you as possible to head out on a camping trip (when permitted in the UK) for the experience.

A group of people sitting around a campfire together

“Once you camp for the first time, it just gets better and better.”

When you camp, the key thing is family time. If you take the whole family camping, you’re always together from dusk till dawn, and all of your activities can be together too. It’s a great opportunity to work on your family bonding and team work with tasks such as setting up the tent perfectly, cooking the meals, searching for fire wood together. If you’re in a hotel, cleaning & room service do all the chores for you… boring!

And you know what, even if you fancy a solo camping trip, it can be one of the most relaxing experiences. Head out solo and immerse yourself in nature, you might even meet some new people who are doing the same thing, rather than sitting in your hotel room watching the TV. People usually tend to stay in their own hotel rooms and so it’s not a great social experience if that’s what you’re looking for, whereas camping can be a really friendly experience where everyone gets to meet new people who have similar interests.

How do you find evenings sitting in a hotel room? Pretty rubbish, right? Especially when the kids are running riot, jumping on the beds and complaining that they’re bored. Well, how about if you could sit around a warm campfire, toasting marshmallows and telling stories instead. Just imagine.

“Life is best when you’re camping…”

It’s sounding pretty great so far, but it gets better still. Let’s get rid of the “Breakfast is served 7am-10am” and the morning rush to get everyone ready before breakfast. When you go camping, breakfast is served whenever you want. You can get those sausages sizzling at the crack of dawn if you like, or maybe you fancy some brunch instead. You can even eat your camping breakfast in your PJ’s which maybe isn’t as possible in the hotel.

Perhaps the reason you don’t fancy camping is because of the facilities, maybe you’d prefer to have a bed to sleep in and a proper toilet. Well this is no excuse, because that’s exactly what glamping is for. Glamping is like a furnished hotel room but without the hotel part, so it’s obviously a win-win situation.

Now finally, picture yourself in your hotel room – you’ve just finished your night routine and got comfortable in bed. Then, you hear the elevator ding ten times followed by a group of people walking up the halls, only to discover they’re in the room opposite you. They feel like continuing the party in their rooms and you’re the one who has to put up with it until sunrise. Or, you could get cosy in your tent and hear the calming sounds of nature, maybe a fox every now and again, and wake up to the sound of the birds tweeting. Now to us, that sounds far more peaceful.

Even if you say you’re totally not into camping, you will never know unless you try it. We guarantee if camping is done correctly then it’s something you’re sure to enjoy.

Happy Camping!
