Rattan furniture has been gaining popularity for the last ten years and this has been attributed to the durable materials used to fabricate the characteristic weave that lasts for decades and is very durable.

In Addition to the quality of materials used in the making of this unique, and now contemporary furniture, their pricing can become somewhat exaggerated as importers tend to give sets their own names, which makes comparisons much harder in both price and specification. It stands to reason that the material used in making Rattan Furniture has a dramatic effect on the cost of production and hence the retail price.

Man-made rattan today goes by the name “Poly-Rattan” and is a synthetically produced material that is designed to not only.mimic natural rattan but also have the texture of it. It is usually made  up of a combination of modern plastics which go together to form HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) but other plastics are also used such as :

• Polypropylene (PE) - most used due to it’s higher durability)
• PVC
• PU
