Whether you are new to week-long treks, or just getting your feet wet, the Highlander 88 Litre Rambler Rucksack has all the bells and whistles that you’ll need to ensure that your equipment is as adventure-worthy as you are.
The 88 litre capacity of the Rambler is more than ample for a week of roaming and maybe more depending upon how much gear you’re planning on taking. Storage is divided into several compartments. The main storage is located heart of the pack, where the weight is most comfortably situated. This is the ideal place for your clothing, tent, sleeping bag and cooking utensils, all the things you won’t need during the day. For easy to grab items, use the zippered top pouch for your maps, compass, and snacks. Rain jacket and food items may also be placed in the two zippered side pockets to easily grab them on the go.
Capacity is not the only feature that makes this rucksack ideal for every trek. It is sewn from 600D polyester with PVC coating. To give you an idea of how durable this rucksack is 600D (denier) designation is the weight of a fabric per 9,000 metres. Women’s tights often run in the arena of 30D, while heavy tarpaulin is often 1000D. This makes the 600D a mid-weight polyester that provides the strength, tear resistance, and shape of the rucksack. Highlander calls their version of this durable polyester XTP. To reinforce this woven fabric, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), a synthetic plastic polymer, is layered upon the XTP with an adhesive. The result is a flexible, dimensional fabric that resists, tears, abrasions, and is water resistant.
The Rambler’s simple, easy to use design is what makes it the perfect rucksack. Adjustable shoulder straps and back system ensure a comfortable fit regardless of its size. You are able to situate the pack so that the weight is on your hips not your shoulders. A padded waist belt ensures that the weight doesn’t dig into your hipbones. The separate compartments also help to properly distribute the weight of your gear so that even if you aren’t hiking with a full pack, it will fit snugly to your frame for a comfortable hike.
If you are concerned that all of your accessories won’t fit in the sack, Highlander has included a looped shock cord along the back as well as external clipped straps. These straps work well to hold bulky items such as jackets, sleeping pads, or even a tripod or trekking poles. There is an ample amount of storage to keep everything you need to make your trip memorable right at your fingertips.
